The important changes introduced by the European Health Data Space (EHDS ) and the prospects it creates for the health system in Cyprus will be highlighted by the information event organized by the National Electronic Health Authority (NEHA) on Thursday, July 16, 2026 , from 18:00 to 20:00 , at the “Philippos Tsimpoglou” Amphitheatre of the University of Cyprus , under the auspices of the Honorable Minister of Health, Mr. Neophytos Charalambides.

The event, which will be open to the public with the option of both in-person and online participation, is taking place at a particularly critical time for the digital transformation of healthcare in the European Union. Its goal is to inform all stakeholders about the new European regulatory framework, the obligations arising from it, as well as the significant opportunities it creates for the Cypriot healthcare system.

The event is part of the Joint European Action “ Extended EHR @EU Data Space for Primary Use (Xt -EHR )” , which is a key pillar for the implementation of the European Health Data Space and the development of an interoperable ecosystem for the exchange of electronic health data across the European Union.

During the event, the main provisions of the EHDS Regulation will be presented, the obligations it introduces for healthcare organizations and professionals, digital solution providers and citizens, as well as the latest developments regarding the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF ) , the interoperability of information systems and the contribution of the Xt -EHR Joint Action to the implementation of the new European framework.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the challenges and opportunities arising for Cyprus, as the implementation of the EHDS is expected to fundamentally change the way in which health data is shared, utilized, and protected, thereby strengthening cooperation among member states and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.

The event is aimed at public authorities, healthcare providers, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, academic and research institutions, industry and digital health organizations, as well as any interested member of the public.
